ANCESTOR formed itself early in 2007. The first idea behind the project was to create something that evolved into three parts or "phases": Silence, Machine and Memory.

Phase I: Silence was written during the transition between Stockholm and a year in New England. The album recieved acclaim by an international audience that referred to it largely as "Death Ambient."

Phase II : Machine began almost immediately after the release of Silence during a 2008 summer residency in Bergen Norway and is being completed in New York City at this moment.
