The smell and essence from the beeswax is transported from the beehive with help from the soundwaves coming from the loudspeakers inside the box. This architecture of noise gives us the fundament for a new society (The bee-society) and the soundworld of insects, plus the interraction with the five senses; the ear, the eye, the smell, to feel and to touch. Why the school of economics in Stockholm? All in all we are apart of a complicated society, this in relation to politics and economics, not unlike the society of bees. The sound installation "Beehive XI" stems from an earlier work "Beehive III" exhibited at Heliosturm in Köln, Germany 1991 for the Group Exhibition "Naturkunden" and in Skövde Konsthall 2003 for the Solo Exhibition "The New Alchemy", These works are wooden freight boxes containing beeswax prepaired for the habitation of a bee society. The original soundtrack are fieldrecordings from 11 beehives, mixed and produced by Per Svensson and Audio Laboratory at Kolsyrefabriken in Stockholm. |
